Description
A forged iron ring is perfect for someone who’s looking for down to earth accessories. With a norse inspired aesthetic, it fits into many different styles like pagan, wicca, heavy metal or outdoors, and can even be worn during LARP, Renaissance fairs, and viking reenactments.
The scrolls on the swirly ring is hand forged in my blacksmith workshop in Denmark. Rustic, but made with careful precision. Each ring will have some natural variation in shape and finish.
The open design means the size can be easily adjusted at home should it be necessary, allowing the ring to be worn for many decades and even end up a unique handmade heirloom piece.
Ring size and adjusting the fit
Each available ring’s size is measured on a mandril, allowing you to pick one that’ll fit you well. In order to know your ring size, use a measuring tape to measure the circumference of your finger – not too tight and not too lose. You can also measure by wrapping a piece of tape or string around your finger, then cut it, lay it down flat, and measure it’s length.
There are many different ring size standards. The listed ring sizes for rings in my shop is the internal diameter in millimeters.
If your ring-size is not available, please send me a message with your size, and I will forge a ring for you in the appropriate size.
Should the ring some day need adjusting, tapping the ring against a flat hard surface with a hammer will close the ring, downsizing it. Sticking it on a hard horn or mandril and tapping it with a hammer allows you to open the ring a bit, upsizing it. Two strong pliers and equally strong hands may also be able to bend the ring to size as well, though this can be more difficult – they’re durable!
Aftercare with vegetable oil
Every ring has a forged finish and is treated with raw linseed oil – this is a foodsafe finish that darkens the ring a bit and prevents rust. Once the ring has been worn for a bit, your skin’s natural oils will keep it from rusting. Should you ever wish to re-finish the ring, you can do so by applying a very thin layer of vegetable oil and heat it in an oven at 220-250 Celsius for 30-50 minutes until the oil is black and dry to the touch – very much like you would treat castiron cookware.
All of my products are forged by myself in Denmark.
